Harrison House, Hawthorn Terrace,
This is a proper old fashioned pub just on the edge of Durham. The beer is very cheap and they have a pool table which is about as much as you could ask for in some peoples eyes. It's a friendly place with the regulars tending to be a mixture of old locals and students. I knocked a star off because of the lack of music; they used to have a great folk night and also played music tapes into the pub, but the change in the music licensing laws means there is no longer any music here which I find a real shame. There is a teeny tiny beer garden which is quite sweet if you can fit in there. This used to be one of my regular haunts but I don't get down there so much these days.
