Millennium Place, Gala Durham is a theatre and cinema combined. The theatre includes comedy, music, drama, dance and children's performances. There are also educational classes available.
The Gala Theatre is also home to Durham's cinema which has two screens. Both screens are quite small and can easily be sold out when a new or popular film has been released so be sure to book your tickets in advance! The cinema also sells a good selection of sweets/drinks/popcorn at quite a cheap price and the cinema ticket itself is average. One problem with this cinema is the lack of choice of which films to see. Usually there are about 2/3 films showing every day of a particular week. There are some special offer days such as those for children and the Golden Oldies where there are refreshments included in the price!

I was so pleased when I found out there was going to be a new cinema opening in Durham! And although it is small, and because there is only two screens the choice of movie is not great) i can't help but love it!The staff are friendly, the sweets are reasonably priced and yummy! And the seating is really comfortable!I also like the phone service, which takes you direct to the box office to let you know what is on and when! The coffee shop, i think is still recently new, but it's lovely! Not as expensive as other coffee shops in durham - but maybe not as fancy or well known! It's a lovely place to chill out - have a soup of the day - before going back to workor shopping!!

A massive devolpment meant that theatre arrived back in Durham, with this £15 million State of Art VenueThe Theatre its self features top of the range modern lighting and sound. Seating is on two levels with varying prices for the better seating though no seat has restricted viewing. Price structure is varied from adult to various concession prices.Seating is very comfortable and the general style of theatre is excellent. Whilst not to standard of Empire in Sunderland this a fantastic place to catch a show, normally at reasonable prices. Its advisable for a lot of productions/events/shows to book in advance to avoid selling out and/or getting best seats. In addition to the theatre there is 2 cinema screens showing both the latest films and art house release. In peak times its best to book as Durham has only 2 screens in the city. Also there is a great cafe bar which is open all day with views of the River. Parking is easy in near by Prince Bishops secure car park
